Default Changing from open carrier to positive traction

I have a 2000 chevy silverado. I wanting to get rid of the open carrier and put a positive traction carrier. What all year model will work in my truck? Im pretty sure that older body style like 98,97 will not work. Also will tahoe or and suvs work as well? Thanks for all the help.

just invest in a detroit true trac. The factory lockers are pieces of crap.

913a481 is the part number you need.

If you don't want to put a bunch of money into it then get the true trac. People who cheap out do things more than once. Do it right, do it once.

I see where your coming from. I am the same way . But i see now need for the ture track for what im going to be using my truck for. If i can get a stock carrier for 60 bucks and slap it in vs 400. Now if i had a 4 wheel drive and had big tires or didnt a lot of mud riding , then yea i would get a true trac IMO
im just curious on which year models will work. I know someone that manages a pull-a-part yard. And with all the clunkers out there . They are getting some very good trucks in.

LOL you think towing a boat is less stress than running big tires? Do what you will, but people break g80s in stock form with no modifications.

a stock g80 would work just fine for towing. I beat mine up at the track all the time, and plenty of people use them.

Yes i do think that pulling a 20' bass boat is lees stress than putting big tires on and runing it wide open though a mud hole. I dont have to explain myself. Im not trying to been an a$$ but the topic was which year models will work in my truck ! Not WHich carrier should i choose?!
