Default Circle D 245mm vs 278mm??

im still undecided on my stall for my truck. i have a 5.3/4l80e with a 228r,1-3/4 lont tubes going into my 2000 S10 ext cab. lol the more i read, i hear that a 3600 stall is perfect for a 228r. just wanted to know will there be a MAJOR difference in "pull" if i went with a 245mm 3600-3800 vs a 3200 278mm. how do you guys with 80es like the 245mm? this truck is a daily but i do want it to be kind of a badass sleeper. right now im leaning toward the 245mm 3600

245... I have the 278 and hate it. Wish I had more stall.

A 228 cam on a 5.3 is a little much for the 278mm. The 245mm would be much more entertaining to drive. But don't forget about the 258mm. Good choice for a happy medium. You still get great street manors and good performance. But I know the 245mm would put a huge smile on your face the first time you slam the go pedal!!

I recommend 245mm as well. Like Chris said, the smaller the number, the bigger the smile.

I think you will be ok. It will be a little on the aggressive side, but add a good cooler and you should have no issues. The definition of streetable varies from person to person. That is probably the hardest part of my job. Trying to determine the perfect combo for your truck mods and intended usage. Some guys drive a 4500+ on the street and love it while I have had a few, albeit a very few, not like a 2600 stall. Having rambled on with all of that, the 228 cam will love the 4C!!!

That's sufficient. My 80E flows 1qt every 10 seconds through my 40K, the builder thought the cooler was plugged up because the line was hot coming up to the cooler and cold coming out. With my stall and configuration my average temp is 125*F, sometimes as high as 150* when I'm beating on it and sometimes as low as 100* when I'm cruising on the interstate in lockup.

It generally keeps it at 50* over ambient, though.
