I always seat my converter 3 times in the trans before installing it. I just eyeball it and see where it sits each time. After doing it a few times you can usually tell when it's not lined up right.

The longest part of the converter swap for me is me double and even triple checking the converter making sure its in right. The last few times Ive done it I couldnt feel the 3 clicks every taks about. So I usually get a tape measure and check the distance between the converter lug and end of trans case.

That really isn't true. Alot of converters are different in size, diameter, length and width. A stock converter you might not be able to fit your finger behind it but on a converter with a smaller housing you might easily fit a finger behind it. Reason being is the overall length of the converter needs to stay constant (i.e. the height of the converter measured from the pads to the tip of the shaft) That portion needs to be the same length regardless, however on a yank converter for example the shaft is much longer than that of a stock converter because the housing itself is much tighter and smaller. However that doesn't mean the shaft needs to go in further so that the space between the pump and the housing is constant.

Well now that I know exactly what I need to do when I put it all back together, hopefully I will have no problems. And I will be measuring that thing atleast a few times to make sure its right!
