Converter stall speed
#11
I have whatever the stock 1500HD's come with and both of my trucks flash to around 2500 rpm. The 05 may be a bit higher but it packs around at least 1500 lbs more weight than the 04. These stock convertors suck, lol. I need to get the Yank I have in my 04.

Resurrect this one from the dead...I’ve got a circle D 2800-3200 in my truck and it’s just loose...at least for me and a daily driver. When I hit the gas just to get moving in regular traffic I’m just sitting at 2500RPM. Was wondering if these GM82 converters are worth a shot at $150 from advance auto parts. Anybody run one for a while with some power??

I had the same thing. My first circle d stalled way too high. The second one is basically my stock converter. I just tossed 2 of those GM82 ones in the scrap metal bin here at work out of my trucks because I couldn't give them away. Should be able to get for nothing or close to it.

Although I don't have plans for a turbo anytime soon, I am concerned about the longevity of a stock clutch piston with a heads and cam truck close to 350rwhp. I was trying to find a GM82 with a billet clutch piston but Transtar apparently doesn't make it. I was looking at B&Ms traveler torque converter but can't find any real world experience with anybody.
