Default Converting AWD 4L65E to fit 2WD

If I bought a used 4L65E from a Denali, Escalade, or SS, what parts would need to be swapped over from my 60 to make it work in my 2wd truck?

Is it worth it to even bother with this or should I get an aftermarket? If money was no object I'd buy a FLT Level 5 and be done, but 3 grand is very hard to swing. Would a stock 65 last behind a N/A 402? Seems like the SS guys have pretty good sucess with them and they are quite a bit heavier than me.

Thanks

I would atleast do a shift kit and sevos in it. you need a 2wd tailshaft housing and the 2wd output shaft and ur set.

It has to be dissasembled to replace the output shaft. Its held in place by a snap-ring sandwiched between the input planetary and input sun gear. The tailshaft housing is a piece of cake.

Is the 4L60E output shaft identical to a 2wd 4L65E output shaft? I would definately do a shift kit and swap the billet servos over from the '60.

Trying to understand your question
Basically you have two output shafts.A 2x4 and a 4x4,they fit 4L60E,4L60,700R4 amd possibly the new 4L70E.Your billet servo may have beethe death of your current trans.Use the vette servo.

My tranny is doing just fine, and it's had the billet servos in it for almost two years now. What is so bad about them? I'm thinking for the future, the truck is my DD so I can't afford down time.

Let me clarify my output shaft question; Is the ouput shaft in my stock 4L60E the same output shaft that GM Performance Parts puts in it's 4L65E for RWD use? If it is that is great. If the GMPP 4L65E has an upgraded output shaft than why bother with a used tranny for 2wd use?
