convertor questions
hey guys ive just got a few questions bout a stall in my 01 silvy, my trucks got a bolted 4.8, the trans is a 4L60E thats freshly rebuilt and thats beefed up a little with full vette servos and a transgohd-2 set up for street/strip mode...one of my questions is how hard will my trans shift at WOT? will it actully snap harder or shift less harshly? i know that with the higher stall my shifts will be a lot more forgiving at part throttle than they are now, anything over 1/2 throttle breaks my gooey 33s loose. also im getting front and rear 488 gearsets in the next few weeks(before the convertor)...how much time can someone usually cut with a gear/convertor swap? also how will my truck be with 35s eventully?
thanks for your time guys

There is really no way to tell.. depends on how the trans was setup when it was rebuilt.. In theory, the stall should soften the shifts to an extent.
But if your breaking 33s loose on an 1-2 shift at half throttle, your asking for trouble. the output shaft is on borrowed time.

it was a stock rebuild, then when i got a hold of it i had the servo's put in and the transgo hd2 setup...the shop who did my shift kit and servos were the ones who told me it was fresh and had been gone through...im just hopin a convertor will help me really get off the line better and also drop my 1/4 mile times...and well i hope in that case that my output isnt a stock one lol

haha **** whats up justin? and nah man i still havnt...specially since traction is my big issue...same with wheel hop lol...i did pull on my buddys grand cherokee that ran a 14.7...but we went from a 30 roll and i had him by a fender...i guess ill be runnin it next time i go to the track...due to losing my job i couldnt afford my gearset for the front end...i do have 2 sets of slicks sitting in my garage waiting to go on my nova and for the truck lol...so i guess well see what she does...hopefully my lockers a.d.d. issue will be taken care of next week when we swap gears and do the master install kit

Yank doesn't build a multi disk converter to my knowledge...
It should soften up the shifts but they should still remain quick and positive. Going with bigger tires will make the converter loosen up because it will add driveline load.
If you're turning over 33" tires on pavement at part throttle I would get that issue fixed ASAP.. Because, that's a problem. You're beating the hell out of those trans internals for no good reason. And yes, most builders leave a stock output shaft unless you specified something different, and your wallet would know it.
Sounds like some washers need to come out of that 1-2 accumulator in a hurry. You want the QUICKEST shift possible, not the hardest. I'd be willing to bet they hogged out your sep plate too which isn't good unless done to certain specs
