Convertor suggestions behind a 8.1L
There is a ton of knowledge reading and writing to this forum, so I thought I'd ask for comments with my setup:
I have a 02' Avalanche 4x4, 8.1L, 80e tranny, 4.10 rear, and a 150 shot may be on the way. The beast ways 6600 pounds. Should I change the convertor? If so, what stall do you recommend? I may want to tow something, but only once or twice a year. Also, should I invest in a trans kit or just modify my shfting characteristics with a handheld programmer?
Thanks,
Boo.

I just sold my 2002 Express 12 pass van that had an LPE built 8.1 and the 4l80-e trans (it had 68k miles) that I did tow with.
the converter I used was you Truck thruster HD 2600 with a 2600 stall
I did tow up to 11K lbs all over, but there is nothing like the look on the 11 other peoples faces when you put your foot to the floor
you wll like the driving feel and there is not need to go into the transmission as it is strong enough to handle your needs.
