When I blew up the tranny in my '04 Tahoe, Chevrolet allowed the dealership a $2800.00 value under warranty.

I took it to a race shop and got a full billet tranny done, with a 3000 stall converter for $3200.00.

The dealership paid the $2800.00 and I covered the $400.00, myself.

between 2700-3200 for a nice trans... and anywhere from 500 to 1000 for a converter...

just depends on how fast you want to go and how deep your pockets are

I was just wanting my original trans. rebuild. It doesn't have any problems. I am not looking for fast. Something is wrong with my converter so it has been recommended to do both. I got a quote of 1795.00 for both done. This is an all original show truck so I just need to be able to keep it original and to be able to drive it.

My shop did the full overhaul on my transmission and installed a new torque convertor a little while ago and the total parts+Labor came out to $2100~ with a 1-year warranty on parts and work. I didn't have anything extra installed, that is just for OEM replacement stuff.

You could prolly pull a used tranny for a lot less than $1800.00. Even as a show truck, there's no vin stamp on your tranny.

When my 4L60E died (results of a bad converter), my local dealership hooked me up with a 3 year warrantied, GM certified trans and converter for $1600 fully installed. You could try that, if you are friends with your dealership. Trans has been good for over 3 years, with a 3000 stall. I do not baby my car though.

1800 sounds like a good deal.
