Default Couple of locker/posi questions

On my new work/project truck I need some sort of posi unit. I'm not planning a gear swap till later, but need something soon.
I'm familiar with the powertrax lock right, and considering installing one, but as of now can't get a definate as to wether or not p/n 1921 will work in the 8.6" rear. (that's the p/n for the 30 spline 8.5)
I'm jumping the gun, but also contemplating welding the spider gears but I'm unsure just how bad it will be using the tuck back and forth to work. When I had my 4wd's I knew people who drove spools and "Lincoln lockers" on the road and didn't have any complaints, but I also know 4wheelers don't seem to complain about much. IMO a set of 35" boggers on a solid front axle '85 Cheyenne isn't exactly driver friendly if you catch my drift.
So anyway, can anyone confirm wether or not the lock right P/N 1921 will work in a 8.6 rear. Or tell me personal experience of driving a Lincoln locked rear on the road

Not sure on the locker you want, but i would seriously look into a tru trac.. A spool for a daily is a pita in my opinion.. Buddy has one in a camaro, bitches all the time, it is constantly chirping the tires when ever he tries to turn..

Weld'er up the back tires will hate you and it won't be fun to drive in the rain but you won't have to worry about it unlocking on ya LOL.

This man speaks the troof. If you weld it up and it ever does unlock, when you pull that cover itll be like opening a new toy box because you wont recognize any of that ****.
