Default Cruise control quit working

I had it running a few days ago, the only changes I have made have been to the idle air flow settings in the tune. I went to use c/c today, no dash light, no cruise. Checked all the fuses, they are ok, checked the connector into the c/c module mounted to the firewall, it's ok. Do the modules go bad? Is it possible there's a broken wire int he signal stalk, and the PCM isn't getting the "Cruise ON" signal? Is there a setting in the tune that might have gotten screwed up? What's going on???

This probably won't fit this situation but....... I drive a 94 Olds as my DD and the cruise wouldn't work with it because the brake pedal wasn't returning completely to the top so the cruise wouldn't set at all as the brake was defeating it. I sprayed WD 40 on the brake pedal pivot area and worked it a bit so the pedal returned completely to the top and the cruise worked fine.

I tried it again, lifting the brake pedal with my left foot and it still doesn't work. It's really strange that it was working a few days ago and now it doesn't.

I'm driving to San Diego on Saturday and I would really like to have my c/c.........
