OEM AAM gears cost a whooping $50 more than Motive gears ($150 vs $200) and only $10 more than Yukon gears and are superior. Ron will take care of you, he has for many members here
im not talkin about the oem aam gears. im talkin about the value gears that come from rons as well.. i believe any how.. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=435933 read thru this thread on the value gears

well, ya know, the saying you get what you pay for.

Ive read that the AAM's are heat treated to 1500 degrees from the factory....so they'd be pretty much broken in from the factory and release less contaminants into the gear oil on break in (mine was pristine @ 500 miles)

Although, I do recall dirt track racer saying he was going sideways coming out of the gear shop

I was coming sideways out of a gear shop?? I do my own set up. I dont have any shop do any work on my truck.. i have done 30 or so gear swaps at where i used to work. and a few of those members are on here. the only ones ive had whine are richmonds and joshes value gears.. which several people have mentioned that they whine. first time with those gears. never heard any motives whine or ford motorsports gears whine either

My bad. some reason thought I read that in a thread regarding gear break in...

anyways, my opinion is to go with the oem gears and ill leave it as that.

Motives are definitely the best aftermarket gears around. No noise.

Eaton originally made the G80 or Gov-Lock locking rear differential.

Eaton also makes:
Detroit Locker
TruTrack
Carbon Fiber clutch style LSD 200lb/400lb/800 preload plates are available-400lb preload comes stock

Eaton bought out Tractech a while ago. Tractech originally made the Detroit Locker and detroit Truetrack.

I went Tru trac based on the fact there is no clutches towear out. It works seamlessm and locks with minimal torque applied.

I have yukons and they whine like a stuck pig.... but i also have headers and corsa's...so i cant hear them lol
