The motivation for sealing bleeder threads is to avoid air getting sucked in during bleeding operation. It also allows air bubbles to sneak into the bleeder hose, faking you into thinking there is air in the brake system.

On mine, it was old fluid and a failing master cylinder. Yes brake fluid can go bad. Mine had mold or some **** floating in it, also had a green tint. Changed all of the fluid and replaced the master. All was good again

Check the inside of the rear tires.

If they are wet, your wheel cylinders are bad.
