Default Damn the stock steel wheels are heavy!

I tripped out when I went to lift em out of the bed last night after getting back from the tire center.

I weighed them today (while rappin with LM7) and to my amazment they were 71lbs!!! These are the 16" chrome steel wheels with 245/75/16 tires.

When I was lifting my new 20's I thought I was on crack when I thought they were lighter. LOL

My new rims/tires are all of about 60lbs' max. The rims (20x8) weigh 23lbs and the tires (275/45/20) weigh 34.5lbs. Add maybe 3lbs mounted and that's one lightweigh 20!

My centerlines with 275/35/20 weigh 55lbs. I forget what my stock aluminum wheels w/tires weigh, but I want to say it was close to 65-70lbs

I thought they still used tubes but I guess I am thinking old school. LOL

So they should only weigh 57lbs mounted.

35series huh? You must have like NO sidewall! I bet it handles like it's on rails.

You bet those stock iron wheels are heavey. My spare iron wheels with the General 255/70/16 came in at 64 pounds while my stock aluminum wheels with the same tire came in at 52 lbs.

I had to put my spare on my truck then when I got new tires they put it back i the bed where it road around for about a month. Then one night I was at a friends house but rode with another friend their and parked my truck in a bad/black part of town and some black guy stole it. I was so pissed. If I ever see some POS Ghetto mobile with 3 24's and a general I'll know whats up.

the problem i had with 20s wasnt weight but getting the 45 series tire to get tracion although the 275 width helped a bit over stock. and BTW F8L calls his GMC aluminum wheels: Teddy Bears.

Because I think they are totally soft and gay looking. Like if a soccer mom went to pick out wheels for her mini van she would choose those. LOL

They are not something you would see rolling out of Chip Foose or Boyd's garage I'll tell ya that.
