Default difference in TORQUE CONVERTER diameter

somebody please explain the difference in the diameters of different torque converters to me? i have the TCI StreetFighter 3K, and it was substantially smaller than the factory one. i think i measured it @ 10.5 inches. is this where the actual "stall" effect comes from... smaller diameter?
