Differential Fluid Question?

Question Differential Fluid Question?

I just had an eaton installed and asked what type of fluid he used and he replied some chinese stuff and the same with the friction modifier. Should i trust his judgement or just wait 500 miles and change it with the gm fluid and modifier, or should i do it now?

Can i buy the fluid at any local dealership or can i get it at O'Reiley?

I personally would run Mobil 1 with friction modifier. I just can't see paying $$$$$for the grape GM stuff. I tow and have 148K and still on my original so I don't think it hurts anything.

No Mobil 1. Use just a regular conventional fluid of your choice plus either the ford or gm modifier. I prefer the ford modifier for use with Eaton's. M19546A I think.

What fluid brand do you use mzoomora? and can i pick up the modifier and the fluid at O'Reileys or do i need to go to the dealership.

Depends. Sometimes I use the Motorcraft stuf because ford includes it with their gears. I will usually just grab either Pennzoil or Valvoline. The mostly all meet the same specs, but I usually stay away from the generics. You should be able to get a modifier at an O'reilly's. You have to use it though,some bottles of fluid will say it is in there or that htey are limited slip approved, but add it anyway.

I used castrol Hypoy or something like that..
the oil bottles come with a spout to get it in there..
the fill hole is on the passenger side of the pumpkin..near the drive shaft U-joints.

You should have drain and fill lines to swap out the fluid. unless he swapped gears too you shouldn't need to open the cover again.
