I pulled off the 2000 model disc set up and installed the 05 drum set up. It was a simple swap. I heard people had trouble bleeding this swap because of the new clockling of the backing plates so I hooked up the lines first and held them at 12 o'clock in my hands while I bleed them. Proceed to swap everything over and BAM! I got rear drums. I have hydro-boost so my new braking is still BETTER than the original vacuum/4 wheel disc set up! Not worried about holding boost at the line either.(transbrake) I am obviously thrilled with my results as I have tons of wheel options now. Hope this helps someone .

Nothing but good things to say after driving it some . Plenty of stopping power. Now i have room for the wheels I have wanted for years!

No, because the backing plate flange on the NBS axle is closer to the outside of the axle. The OBS brakes would stick out too far.

I don't get swapping out disc to go drum, but if you happy then sweet. As a side note Slowec gave me an idea. I have an 05 that wants rear disc that if any member in phx az want to trade parts so they can do this swap I'm game for the trade

The factory disc brakes suck. The slide pins corrode and seize up, that results in destroying the thin *** rotors. The parking brake design sucks ***** and the backing plates rust out. AND you cant fit 15" wheels without grinding the calipers paper thin.

I converted to drums and have NO regrets.

The 05 drums are way better brakes then those 99-04 discs.

Simply horrible. Dums provide more stopping power as they self-energize, they just cant repeat as they don't handle the heat.

You should swap on some 05 fronts as well, but must go to 17" rim.

Question, what rims can you fit now, that you couldn't with the rear disks?

peace

15x10 Bogart Street/Strip wheels with 6.5" backspacing. The guy at Bogart said I could make his Drag wheels fit by grinding the hell out of the calipers, but the Drag wheels also cost more and aren't recommended for any street use.
