DJM 3/5 Kit - Shock Lengths
I bought a DJM lowering kit for my '03 Silverado off craigslist. The kit is supposed to be a DJM 3/5 drop with upper and lower control arms and a flip kit for the rear. The kit was used for a few weeks and still looks new. I installed the flip kit already but was wondering if there is a way to make sure that the front is a 3" control arm and not more or less before I install it?
The flip kit looked like a normal 6" flip kit and since my truck came with 2" lowering shackles, I installed a set of 1" lift shackles with the flip kit instead.
Also, does anyone know the collapsed and compressed length needed for the front if it's a 3" control arm? I got ahead of myself and purchased a 9.5"/14" shock for the front and a 12.5"/19.5" for the rears. Wondering if I got the correct ones???
Thanks,
Jesse

Ok so I finished up the lowering kit. I ended up installing stock length rear shackles with the flip kit. On the front I installed the upper and lower control arms along with a 2" polyurethane spring spacer on the front driver side to level out the front. The spacer seems to have only raised it about 3/4" - 1" but it was enough to level it out.
The problem I am having is that the front looks like it lowered more than 3". It also feels firm but very bouncy in the front. The front tires rub a lot on the inner fenderwell when it goes thru bumps or dips on the road. But any time it goes thru a pot hole or sharp bump on the road, the front pops/bumps really hard and sounds like its about to break or something. It doesn't sound like the frame or anything is scrapping the road like it normally does. It almost feels to me like maybe there isn't enough suspension travel. Is it possible that I did get the wrong front shocks for this kit or installed the upper control arms on the wrong sides. The springs are stock springs. The rear isn't notched yet but feels fine. It only hits the bump stop (which I cut down) when it goes thru a big road bumps. The tires are 265/70/16.
I'm really considering taking the lowering kit off and putting the stock suspension back on

here is some help hopefully. turn your steering wheel to the right completely. now look near the coil spring and locate an oem rubber bump stop. remove it. that is where it is hitting when you it dips on a bump. you will have a much better ride guaranteed. as for the rubbing on the fender, as long as it is that low or has that size tire it will rub. choices are go to a narrower tires on front (i am pretty sure you can always use the present tires in the rear later on) or change out lower control arms if presently a 3 to a 2 inch. those are pretty much your choices along with returning to stock but i will say i like the stance on it. me, i would put a narrower tires. pm me if you have any other ?s.
good luck and remove that oem rubber bump stop. very common irritating issue.

Thats definately lower than a 3in drop up front!!
I have a 3/6 on mine and i run a 245/65/17 tire with no problems. Something ain't right man, def need to raise the front end up some

Thanks for the input guys. I had cut down both front and rear bump stops when I lowered it. It was bottoming out on the front bump stops so I took them out. I also went ahead and notched the rear and it's no longer as bouncy as it used to be. It feels much much better now but it still sits a little lower in the front and still rubs every now and then.
I might just lower the rear another inch to level it out.

Update:
The control arms ended up being 5" lowering not 3" like I was told when I bought them.
I ended up replacing the upper and lower control arms with new stock ones. Then I installed DJM 2" lowering springs and McGaughy's 2" lowering spindles (the ones for 16" rims). I put in a polyurethane 1" coil spring spacer on the driver side to level it out. The truck now sits at 30.25" all around. It looks more like a 3/5 drop to me though. Didn't need to align the front end anymore either.
Overall, the ride is awesome! No more bottoming out as it feels much stiffer yet smooth enough for road bumps. Takes corners very well, even without the front sway bar!

Looks good! Did you try the coil spacer before and after? If so, how much did the 1" spacer raise the corner? Where did you get it? I'm in a similar boat, need to drop while leveling right to left.
