do i have a gm ax or american axle?

Default do i have a gm ax or american axle?

i emailed richmond gear looking for gear set part numbers and they said they need to know if i have a gm or american axle. i didn't know chevy was using anything other than a gm axle. i thought we had the 8.5 inch gm axle? am i wrong? (btw i have the g80)

AAM makes the components for GM. I dont know what they ar asking for, your truck should be just a regular 8.6/8.5. Havent run into anything different on any 04's yet, you may have caught a new guy.

The only question they should ask you is when you order the bearing kit. They will want to know if you have the reluctor sensor on the differential...well, you don't! Other than that, like stated before should just be 8.5" 10 bolt. Here is the part number for my 4.10's on my 00: RMG-6901651. Here is the part number for the install kit from summit, I can't remember the name of the manufacturer right now: RAT-360K. Hope this helps....
