Default Do I need T42 to work w 6l80e

Trying to get a 6l80e with awd transfer case to work with a 09 LY5 5.3. Can anybody tell me if a newer ecu 38 would negate the need for a T42 box? I have searched and searched. I have the 5.3 and the 6l80e just trying to figure out what else is needed.

T42 will work with the 4L60 / 4L80. To run the 6L80E at a minimum you'll need a T43. 6L80E swap treads will be helpful in your journey. iirc iamkeniff and Hammer had an excellent writeup of his experence.
