Does this sound right?

Well i'm guessing, may be wrong, but the lenders are your parents and they don't want go fast. may i remind you that the level 3 FLT is less expensive and a proven tranny that will lat longer than your motor. plus it is a proven shop who does amazing work and the level 3 is not a "built" transmission it is an "improved" tranny designed to last longer and handle more abuse without giving up the ghost. Try the spin of it is a more improved and fisacally responsible decision. Plus the art of auto tranny rebuild is one that is not to be take lightly. Give that a shot and happy :driving:

Being a poor college student with rent, truck payment, etc., sometimes I just don't have money for when stuff like this goes down. oh wait, I NEVER have money when stuff like this goes down.....
I hate having to borrow stuff from mom
Besides, my mom is one of those ladies who won't believe a word you say until they hear it straight from the mouth of the mechanic. I'm serious, she didn't even believe me about the 3-4 clutch packs until the shop told us that was what it was!
Oh, the price I stated before was for the whole shebang, not just the parts, but the labor and warranty too. Still a little high though....

Just a follow-up. I got the truck back tonight, and it's pretty nice-shifting, Subtley stiffer shifts than before in 1-2 and 3-4 is smooth as butta.
It turns out it wasn't just a rebuild, rather an overhaul of the entire transmission. Off the top of my head, they replaced the clutch-packs, band, solenoid, carrier, planetary, fluid, filter, plate, torque converter, all the seals, and whatever I'm not remembering from the parts sheet. So far, I'm happy with it, but I've only put 16 miles on it!
Oh, I'm pissed! They re-connected my exhaust!
I hate being able to hear myself think!
