I just bought these slicks from Summit Racing so now it is time to figure out how much to get the wheels widened, I just want to mount the wheels on my truck just to make sure how wide I can go.

thats the hoosier that you want, i run those on a 16x10 wheel, and have gotten a best of 1.67 60ft, but there are plenty of people running that slick on a stock 16" wheel and cutting great 60's as well, if I remember right "v8" runs the stock 16"wheel with those 28"hoosiers and he is also cutting 1.6's, I wouldnt wided the stock wheel, give them a try first you'll be surprised how good they hook...

Well I would do that but I already have the stock wheels, If I would buy some new wheels I would have to get 4 of them so they all match becuase that is just how I am so in my case keeping the stock wheels and having 2 of them widened will be less money. Thanks for your help, You got me really excited about these slicks!

I just checked to see how much I can have the wheel widened and I am pretty sure that 3/4" is all I can increase the backspacing to make the backspacing 5 3/4" overall. I was thinking that I could use a 1/4" wheel spacer so I can have a 9" wide wheel but I am not sure that a wheel spacer would be safe to do. Maybe I will try the slick on the stock wheel as suggested by ap2002. If I can't have at least a 9" wide wheel then I don't think it is worth it.

Here is my new plan, I am going to buy these wheels which are 16"x8" w/ 4.25" of backspacing which I will send away to have widened which will make the wheels 9.5" wide w/ 5.75" of backspacing. Let me know what you think.

I mounted the wheel on my truck and I think it is going to work out great. I will have it widened 1 1/2" so the wheel is 9 1/2" wide. Here are some pictures that I just took. Let me know what you think.
Here is a picture of each side of the truck, Left side is the new wheel and the right side is the existing 20" wheel & tire.
I need to wash my truck!
