Alright so I signed up for drag week with the escalade. It's gonna have a cam and blower within a week here. Close to 600 wheel. The rule for drag week is all vehicles in any class must have a "drag type tire" on any drive wheel... That's all of them for me

I have a set of 17" wheels that I run at the track and as winter wheels now. I'd like to find drag radials for those if I can. Problem is finding a tire setup that will be tall enough to not look stupid. The 17s have 265/65/17s on them now which are 30" tall and those even look a little dinky on there.

What are you guys doing for drag tire setups on nnbs trucks? There are some taller options for 16" wheel but I'm not sure if they'll clear my brakes.

What year is it? Typically a 16 will not clear the brakes. I run a 285/60/17 but I am also lowered. At stock height it would look small, not horrible but noticeable.

Tallest tire I could find in a drag radial for 17s was 28". Worked very well, cant help how it looks...

Im with atomic on this one. Not much you can do not to look silly with a dedicated drag tire.

Do you need them to be dot approved too? A drag radial? Or will a slick be ok?

4 slicks is quite sketchy at high speed, I would recommend against it. He wont need 4 slicks with 600hp.

The rule states a drag type tire on every drive wheel so anything works dot or not. I would prefer drag radials so I could drive to the track like that once drag week is over

Which ones? I'm looking to go with Mickey Thompson if I can. Friend of mine can get me a deal but I'd go elsewhere for 28s if that's the only option

I used m&h drag radials and they worked well.

I've run the M&H on a number of high HP 4wd trucks in the past. They are my go to tire for this type of application.

I also get remarkably good life out of them for what they can do.

I'm not a fan of the M&H....they're undersized and the tires are extremely soft and susceptible to road debris. Mickey's are my go to.
