Default driveline noise

So the last few months I have been putting of replacing my ujoints. Tonight after work I changed the the driveshaft ujoints easy hour or so job. I was changing them because of a crunching noise while shifting from park to reverse right. Turns out that loud crunching didn't go away I also happens under hard accel of the line you can just barely hear a faint crunch or creeking for a second than it's gone. also happens shifting from neutral to say reverse to???

any ideas that could help my would be great. Thanks

Oh boy... try this on for size. I was removing all of the components connecting to my trans b/c I'll be pulling it out today to rebuild it. As I removed the driveshaft from the pinion yoke, I noticed something that I was unfamiliar with. There was a NOTICEABLE wiggle when trying to turn the pinion clockwise and counterclockwise. Could that be something related? Should there be any play b/t the pinion and gears?

I thought I had a u-joint issue, but mine are new as well. Subscribing...

Mine clicks and clunks when it downshifts while breaking.

I get the noise too when I accelerate but I think mine is the leaf springs sqeaking.

I definately don't miss the squeaking/clunk type noises from the rear-end on my old '00 Tahoe. I think I replaced everything, leaf springs, u-bolts, limited slip diff, etc. A custom trac bar finally fixed it though. Just kept it from moving back/forward - worked for me!

do you have an aluminum 1pc drive shaft??? If you do you may never get rid of your noise. we have replaced some with new ones and still have the same issue?

And 1badc10, yes you want play between your pinion and gears, that is backlash, you should have anywhere between .010 and .020 of play, now if it is alot of play you may have a problem, but you do need to have some.

I'd have to put a gauge on it. Took a short clip of me playing with it.

Backlash <---No, not the WWE PPV either.
