I would agree with the pinion angle. You dont have any vibration or anything do you? Also there isnt any play in the pinion itself is there. Just trying to narrow something down here. And are you sure the new ujoint was installed correct IE. Im just saying because, a friend of mine installed one on his truck and really had a hard time getting the old one out and he tweaked one of the ears on the Drive shaft. Ended up slowly eating one side of the U joint cup.

How long was the drive shaft on before it failed?

Driveshaft has been on with this joint for roughly 9 months. Never had an issue with it before yesterday, even at 120mph+

No play in the diff pinion, and yes it was installed correctly.

I would at least have the ends replaced or just get a new one to be safe that is what I would do. I had to replace mine when my rear went it was about $300 for a build one.

I remember looking into that last year, none of the shops around here will deal with aluminum, so I think my money is better invested in a built one with 1350s from dennys or something.

Or just a solid steel one.

pstds.com they look decent, if time was not a issue for me to get back on the road I do think that I would of went with them. But I am over all happy with my built one.

Im estimating the highest driveshaft speed I need to be around 7000rpm. The shaft being so long presents a problem....

Anyone else with a setup like mine know their driveshaft length off hand? I spoke to dennys on the phone and he suggested a 5" shaft.

X2. My buddy ditched his aluminum drive shaft on his z71 for a steel one. It was about $250.

I had a new 3 1/2" steel one made (they spec'ed with my power goals in mind) when I did my 4l80e swap, 2 different shops could not make it balance right, just too long for a 3 1/2 steel and over critical speed of it. The shop that built it told me he could just shorten my stock 5in aluminum shaft... I was like I would have just done that in the first place and saved the $300 if I'd know that!

So for size, min 4" steel, or 5" aluminum.
