Driveshafts
#11
My 2500HD has a 1 piece driveshaft with a 4L80E...it's a standard cab 8' bed truck...steel shaft.
I'm actually interested in an aluminum shaft (because I'm an engineer and therefore not afraid of a material...maybe the stock ones are too thin a wall I'd have to find one to see) and I'm tired of how shitty the steel shaft looks (new england weather). I run an 3.5" aluminum shaft in my car (Impala SS...not as long, but not exactly a short shaft either), and I make WAY more power than my truck does (and most of the trucks on this forum too), and I'm not afraid of it at all...and it looks WAY nicer when I crawl under the car to change the oil or anything else.

The only reason I think a diesel shaft wouldn't work in our situation is that they don't spin to 6000+rpm.
A 2 piece steel driveshaft with carrier bearing from Denny's will run you over $500.

Keep us posted on what you go with. The shipping a driveshaft has to be outrageous. If your truck did come with a 1 piece, you're going to have a fun time putting in a crossmember for the carrier bearing if one's not there.

You avhe to remember though i have a crew cab truck and its 2wd so the shaft is alot longer than most. For you guys with ex cabs and 4x4 your shafts will be much shorter.
My truck has not been driven in 3 weeks and i cant take it anymore. I dont know what to do
