I honestly don't think the tranny is overall longer at all. I think just the tranny mount is back a lot further. The tailshaft length is more than likely on the short side.
It only makes sense with a 1-piece DS. If it was longer, the yoke would be too close to tranny or binding. This is not the case.
Do you still have you stock 65E trans? Measure it from the bellhousing to the tail. Do the same on the 80E. I bet the 80E is shorter by 1-1/2" to 2" overall.

My 60e and 80e were within about a 1/2 inch when i measured it. I don't suppose there are long and short tailshafts for the 80e like there is the th400 is there?

There are different shafts for the 80e and i have measured both of them. The 80 is nearly 2 inches longer.....

You need someone else to post some pics of there 80E at the yoke.
None of this would make sense if the 80E is longer from bellhousing to tail end.
Possible incorrect yoke?

I have been askign for other pics but no one has provided any. Doesnt seem that there are too many 2wd conversions out there right now.

Is your truck in the air when you're looking at it? It needs to be sitting on level ground before you make measurments. It makes little to no sense that a longer tranny will cause you to have a shorter driveshaft.

According to online sources an 80E is about 32 11/16" long and an LS1 style 60E is 31 5/32" long. Either way you hack it, the driveshaft should be too long....but....what do the two yokes look like? I assume you switched yokes, and it appears that the 80E yoke might be considerably shorter. If it's the same as a TH400 yoke, then they make longer ones.
