Drivetrain Conversion Question
Going to be swapping a 408/ and 4l80E into my 97 Z71, and I want to know if the factory transfer that is on the truck now will mount to the new trans? Right now there is the stock 4l60E and transfer, and I want to keep the manual shift transfer that I have now for the swap, is this possible? Will I need to get an adapter plate or anything to make this work? Also, does anyone know what the stock 97 transfer is rated for powerwise, and do you think it will hold up to 500+ hrsepower?

Pretty sure it will bolt up.
You will need an adaptor to go between the trany and transfer case.
Yes....you can re-use your manual transfer case as long as you swap the input shaft to the larger 32spline unitso as to match up with the larger output shaft on the 80E.

I wanted to re-use my PB NP243 so I just swapped the input shaft from the 241 which came with the 80E and installed it in my 243. They're identical except for the selector drive motor/manual shift lever.
241 will bolt up but will need the 32 spline input shaft.
I bought complete trany and transfer case so it came with the adaptor. You WILL need the adaptor. You will also need the bracket which holds the selector cable. The 60E bracket won't fit.
If you want any pic's....go here:

wow, great pics, thanks for the links! Does anyone have the part number for the adapter?
As far as the time and trap speed, I said the same thing when I got the slip handed to me, and I still have no idea.
