Default Are early 4l60e converters different then newer?

Just got done putting my transmission together. I had a local torque converter company build me up a torque converter....

I'll be damned if the thing wont go on. It goes on two clicks and then after 2 hours of fightin it I gave up.

Are the input shafts different or somethin?

The splines are actually both 30. The LS style 4L60E is 6.5" tall. The old school 4L60/700R4 is 5.9" tall. Hope this helps.

Take a picture of the converter and of the trans input shaft. I can tell you what is wrong.
