Default Ebay Stall Converters

So whats wrong with buying a converter from an Ebay store if they have a good warranty? I have owned Yank's all my life, and I plan on sticking with them for a long time due to their great customer service and great converters, but while searching on ebay there is some tempting prices.

I found a company with a 1 year warranty, on a 3600 stall converter with any STR you want for $240 bucks. So what makes these converters bad? I know they are not a forged 1 piece design like yanks, but If im under 500hp is that even something to worry about?

Just curious

You get what you pay for. Most of them don't have an oversized lockup clutch. I didn't want to risk my newly built transmission on an ebay one so I went with Yank, tried and true.

very true, same reason i got a yank, but Im more asking whats some things to look for when buying a converter, like what actually makes some worse than others.

He dosent make much off cheapest converter (the beefed up trailblazer stall).I dont see how others could compete and be comparable.Lockup clutch in his is top of the line + hes consistant with no suprises.

I also like how Chris builds his tight. I picked up 2-3 mpgs going from TCI to Circle D just from the build difference.

I wouldn't' try an ebay converter personally. If not done right you just lost a perfectly good trans.

The ones on ebay can be upgraded, $50.00 for a carbon clutch.
I got mine from Revmaxx out of Phoenix. 3000 stall and it works great.
