Finished up what I could with the install last night. Gone as far as I can until the transfer case seal comes in. There are several brackets and wiring looms that can be adjusted around to get everything tuck away and secured. You can tell there is commonality in the parts for either the 80e or 60e.

My fix for the transmission cooler line up front is to take the opportunity and upgrade the cooler. I've ordered a Tru-Cool 28K LPD cooler and will go from the hard line to soft into the cooler.

The cooler.

Going to use these fittings. 3/8" Compression fitting with a barb.

Perfect!
Didn't know they were available with the barb.

Thanks for compression fitting idea. Didn't know they were available. Just got to searching and found the barbed ones popping up. Bought a set without the barb at a local parts place to confirm the size.

Question guys. I should be able to get everything together by the weekend less drive shafts. It seems that a front DS from a 2500HD truck will go right in after some conferring with Thunder550 so I'm going to pick one of those up pretty quick. I'll have to order a custom shaft for the rear and will take a while.

I want to fire the truck up and run it through the gears. Obviously without shafts that won't work to well. When I get the front shaft in and installed would I be able to put it in 4hi and move it around?

I think it will work for your truck move with front 4x4 without rear driveshaft. I had test on my 93 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 while I was remove rear driveshaft. And I put 4L its work. But your computer. It may have some tech block not let you drive front 4x4 without rear driveshaft. Im curious to see if you can try and see if it work.

Pretty sure it'll work. I've heard of people blowing the rear diff and being able to put it in 4hi to limp home. Truck doesn't know if there's a rear shaft there or not.

Parts came in today. Transfer case front seal and gasket between the transfer case and adapter. Installed the seal and got the transfer case and the torsion bars back in tonight.

Seal part # 12547466 - Ouch $41.37
Gasket part # 24242395 - $7.68

Ran into a little problem. Encoder motor interfered with the crossmember.

A little grinding took care of this side. Once I got the member back in and bolted up it is still touching on the far side. I'll pull it back out and take a BFH to clearance the rest.

Looks like it came there from the factory.

Transmission cooler arrived while I was under the truck. Have it to put on, exhaust, fill her with fluid, load the tune and I can at least start the truck. Drive shafts and the 1350 rear end pinion left after that.

I reckon I'd be pulling the crossmember out and cutting the ends off diagonally then welding a new piece of plate in to fill it.
Getting there mate....you must be happy it's all coming together.
Best part is driving the truck knowing the Trans is one thing you should no longer need to constantly have in the back of your mind as a "will it fail if I stomp it" thing.
This is why I'm preparing mine for the 14bolt rear swap.

Good idea about sectioning the cross member. Getting anxious to finish this and wanting to ummm, not cut corners.

Cannot wait to get it rolling. Hope the rest of it goes smoothly and will enjoy the piece of mind.

Any advice for someone about to do this swap as well?
