I thought there was a supplier that was making new input shafts for the NP149 but that seems to have dried up. I'd really like to get my hands on one as well.

Excellent thread and a big help in my current endevor. I do have a couple things I wanted to clarify. So finding a front drive shaft from a 2500 works? The neutral safety switch from the 60e does bolt on? And lastly cooler lines from a 2500 should come close to bolting up? I am about to start ordering things for this swap. Thank you for such a detailed thread.

- So finding a front drive shaft from a 2500 works? Yes

- The neutral safety switch from the 60e does bolt on? Yes, unless you have a 1993 or older 4l80e, then you need to fab up a bracket. At that, you would need to create a shift linkage bracket as well.

- And lastly cooler lines from a 2500 should come close to bolting up? Depends on your year 4l80e. Older ones had lines that will pretty much bolt up to the stock 4l60e cooler. Newer 4l80es have the fittings far apart and wont bolt up. I'm not sure about the 2500 lines. I skipped the guessing and did a True Cool 40k cooler with custom lines.

Don't forget the rear driveshaft shortening, 32 spline input for xfer case, custom cross member and so forth.

Yup, I got the rest of the stuff. Trans I am looking at is a 2005 2500 4x4. Just praying everything will bolt up. The front shaft part number he showed goes to the allison trans and transfer case as well as the awd gmc trucks. Odd that the regular 2500 6.0 4l80e shaft would not work. That does not make a ton of sense.

I got my front driveshaft based off the part number in this thread. It works great.

Start an install thread of your own and we can help along the way. I'm finishing my swap again as I built my trans and messed something up the first time. My thread might help. Many smart people here, not me, can help

Ok, guess I will try to find that shaft. I am trying to find parts now. I am having to get someone to install the trans even though I could do the work because when I jack my truck up more than an inch it would hit my car port due to how tall it is (6" lift and 35" tires). Kinda sucks dropping an extra $800 in this swap. But I am limited on space right not at my place.

Seems there are a couple different part numbers for the same part. Allison 5 speed, manual 6 speed front drive shaft is what I found it matched for 2500s.

Now I am just trying to make absolutely certain which transfer case I have. It is the push button 4 different buttons....auto, 2wd, 4hi, 4low. If I can figure out how to post pics I will.
