Default Effen ABS light

My ABS and brake lights come on intermittently and I can't make them stop. I have no braking problems except for the lights.
I have removed the front ABS sensors and cleaned them and their mounting surfaces. The resistance of both sensors are within normal range. Both front hubs feel fine. What now?

Do you have rear abs?? you might check that sensor as well. The obvious solution would be to get it scanned when the light is on to see what the code is. I have replaced several abs motors on these trucks as well but hopefully its not that cause those can get pricy.

Tough to say what's going on without having a code to go by...I have heard of a ground somewhere either back by the back of the cab or actuator that corrodes and causes some problems...

Yeah. I am getting these again about every 5-7 drives. ABS operates just fine. I need to save up and get efilive so i can scan the codes.

Mine has done the same thing. It was first traced back to a ground issue for the ABS module underneath the truck right under the drivers seat. I was told that fixing the ground for the ABS module is usually 9 out of 10 times the issue but it turns out mine is the ABS module. They can be very expensive to replace if the ground issue wasn't the fix.

There are a few options if it is bad.
Junkyard and risk picking up a broken one (probably around 50-70 bucks)
Mail it off to be rebuilt (around 150 bucks but comes with warranty)
Deal with not having ABS (your call but thats currently what im doing)

I am looking to mail it off but have been way too busy to even think about taking it off.

If it isn't the ground and it does need a module, then modulemaster dot com should be the place that rebuilds them IIRC. I had mine replaced by the dealer some years ago when it went bad and kept the ABS actuator running constantly, my buddy who is a service writer there goodwill warranted it for me, saving me a ton of dough

Yes, I do have rear ABS. I read that if the vehicle speed sensor is acting up there would be other problems, such as speedometer malfunction, etc. My truck is not exhibiting any problems whatsoever.

Thanks for the info. I will check for a bad ground next.
If I figure out the problem, I will post what I found.
