Man, a lot of threads on this lately. I'm still trying to figure out my shimmy. It comes and goes and teh 2 degree shim didn't do anything for me. The coming and going makes me think maybe the shocks. Who knows. I'm almost at the point to putting the stockers back on just to see if it goes away.

I will now say I cant blame you for asking this very over looked question you have.
I've been thinking more and more about it and have now changed my statements. The diagram in the first page of this thread by Colby is correct.
The fat side will need to be to the rear of the truck to lift the pinion angle.
I'm 85% on this changed statement!
Lets hear what more have to say. Maybe someone with just a shackle drop and shims will look under their truck and see which way the wedge is placed in.
Though I'm really leaning towards the fat side facing to the rear!

What kind of drop? What did you use?
For Everyone: Summit sells a cheap plastic tool that measures pinion angles. Not really sure how it works though. It says it's accurate to a 1/2*. Here it is:

The shackles basically pushed your pinion (front nose of your differential) more towards the ground. You want to raise it back up. Therefore, the fat side of the shims will need to facing the rear to achieve this.
Good Luck!

Im going to put another vote in for the fat side to the rear. Once again. I really do think that is the way they are supposed to be.
