f-body converter qestion, help asap

Default f-body converter qestion, help asap

will a f-body torque converter work in our trucks? reason im asking is I bought a vigilante 3200 stall torque converter from a guy with a f-body anyways I can get the bolts to tigthen in all the way down to the flex plate, its like there about a 1/4 inch to long. do I need a truck converter? or just new shorter bolts?

Same converter for any LS based 4L60 trans, car or truck. You just need to get some shorter bolts. Probably about 12 mm long. BTW - The thread is 10mm x 1.5 pitch. Also need to make sure converter pull back is about 1/8".

Wont it stall differently because it is stalled for the weight of the f body and the truck is heavier?

That is correct, there are a few factors that will affect the stall, including the weight of the vehicle and of course the power output of the engine. A heavier vehicle will make it stall higher I believe, and the more power the engine puts out, the higher it will stall. It's common for someone to see their stall speed increase anywhere from 200 to often over 400 RPM when swapping from a 5.3 to a 6.0
