Default F U to the 65E !!!!!

Well im fed up with 65E's . They just dont like MY truck for some reason.

It Eats 3-4 clutches for breakfast, lunch and now dinner too LOL

So im doing what i should have done from the begining,

4L80E !!!!!!

Picked this beauty up for 125$ on CL !

Its an 04 out of a 2500HD 4x4, reverse is gone but all forward gears work, but who cares its getting gone over.Came with converter.

Also sending the converter back to PI to be made into an 80E LS1 style triple disc vigilante. Too bad my current vigilante only has 800 miles on it!!

So glad Roger did that great write up on the swap. Thanks Also Atomic for the info too!

I hope this is the last time a trans goes in my truck!!

Yeah, i started with a LVL 6 RPM trans 4L70E, lasted a lil bit, then revamped it, puked again, then tried a new case , still no dice, my truck just doesnt like 60e's.

My Trans guy is Top shelf and great to work with, i just want to do the 80E and be done with it, at my weight, power and shift points a 60E just wont last im afraid.

Every trans guy ive talked to from cvoast to coast said the 60E is " iffy" for MY combo.

I should have the stock trans with a shift kit in, it lasted just fine. The stock Borg warner HD clutches are awesome.

I was told when you put more/thinner clutches in they cant dissapate the heat like the thick factory clutches can.

So i dont reccomend anything but BW clutches anymore.

That is where I ordered/bought my truck from. I know one of the service guys there too. I will take that 145 if you dont use it.

I thought the worst part would be the input to the transfer case, but it wasn't hard at all. The whole job was easier than I thought it would be. If you lived closer I would come and help out.

Do you know if you are going to the dyno day yet?

I wish I could find one like that for $125. I'd be all over it.
