Fbody 60e in a silvy?
my truck has been broke down for 7 months now due to a u joint going out and let my driveshaft go at 60-mph ,it broke the tail housing on my tranny along with the disappearance of my driveshaft anyways i decided i would wait for an 80e to pop up maybe from a junkyard i called around some junkyards and they want 2000-2500 for 1 and i craigslist it and came up short i found a 60e with shift kit, hardened drum, 5 gear plants out of 4l65e, Kevlar bands, better clutches from a 98 camaro
but will it work in my 5.3 ext cab silverado?
any help is appreciated and i did do a search and googled it

From what I have been told (correct me if you know different) but the trans are swappable but may need some parts like shift linkage (the one on the side of the trans that the gear selector sensor plugs into) The tail shafts may be different but im not 100%. Just figured I would chime in and give you a bump.

How much would it be , part number maybe?
And is it a hard swap?
An if I do need the shift linkage could I just use the one on my tranny?

100% direct bolt in you will have to use the truck shift cable bracket. The length of the transmission and all internal parts are exactly the same as the truck. The tail housing is shaped differently because of the torque arm mounting bracket when it is installed in a car. But the truck mount will bolt directly to it and sit exactly the same on the crossmember.

Yes you will have to change the linkage bar. The truck has the long one and the f body has the short one. the output shaft is the same, the 2wd truck tailshaft housing is different as it does not have the torque arm mounts. If there is a sleeve on the output shaft of your current trans that will have to be put on the new one as well. Not a big deal. It will work.
