components are the same only one diff is the crew cab trucks rear suspension
Hangers on a crew cab are welded on so they require leafs or a flip kit in rear

What exactly is a "flip kit"? I didn't like the sound of having to drop my gas tank to get the hangers on or having to notch the frame to cleart the bumpstops. Maybe a set of 2" drop shackles and a good mild 2" drop leaf would be the best all around.

Installing a flip kit is simple, seriously. All thats done is placing the axle on top of the leaf springs as opposed to below the springs. It wouldnt take any significant more time than swapping leaf springs.

Ah, so THAT'S what a "flip lot" does. I was trying to figure that out. How much drop do you get there and does it carry the same bump stop issues as some of the alternatives?

Most of the flip kits I see drop the rear about 6". Do they make RAISING shackles that would lift it back up 2" to make the 4" drop if that's the only option there?

Nope. DJM does have 1" lift shackles. So I suppose you could get a 5" drop that way.

Is a flip kit less likely to bottom out on the bumpstops, therefore not requiring notching the frame?
