Front diff slipping bad. Which way to go?

Default Front diff slipping bad. Which way to go?

My brothers front Diff is slipping bad. Was low on fluid and i think he burnt the clutches up. WHat the best to goo? Get another chunck ? Or rebuild the one he has already. Does detroit make something that replace the stock for resonable price ?

Do you mean his transfer case clutches are slipping? The front diff doesn't have any clutches, it's an open differential.

lol im a retard. I guess thats what it is. With him running the fluid low in the front we assumed he messed the front diff up. At first it wasnt pulling that good in reverse and now its bad enough it will barely turn in forward. So giving that info. I guess it is the transfer case?

So which had the low fluid, the transfer case, or the front diff?

Hey this may help ndependent out but me as well. After a summer of high rpm launches on the street in 4hi , I managed to strip sections of teeth of my front diff ring gear and I can actually feel the missing teeth as I go over them now when accelerating. I know I need to swap something out but before I go investing in new front diff gears, is there a stronger alternative available? I read something somewhere a while back about the H2 or the H3 having a better front diff.

Anyone have any knowledge about the front diffs in the H2's and H3's? Didn't they come with like an 8 3/4 diff with 4.10 gears or something?

H2's have a 9.25" diff, same one that the HD trucks use. It is not a direct swap into a halfton, it is narrower and frame mounts are different.

Not sure what the H3 uses, but it's probably the smaller halfton unit.
