Default Front end hub question

I have a 2000 silverado as my daily, started making some bad whinning noises out of the front end, when turning it almost makes a grinding noise, the abs light was flashing for a while and now is on steady. Im thinking its the front wheel hubs, has anybody else had an issue with these?

Is your truck 4WD? If so, I would look to see if you have a torn CV boot. Usually when you hear cracking noises while making turns, it indicates a bad CV joint. The joints usually go bad when dirt contaminates the grease i.e. ripped boot. It could definately be the front hub bearing though(2WD or 4WD). I had to replace mine on my 2000 4WD. These trucks are known for them going bad. Your truck will sound like a freight train going down the road. The ABS sensor is built into the bearing also. It come with the bearing when you buy a new one. Since you have an ABS light on, I would lean towards the bearing. But the noise while turning, usually means CV joint (4WD). I would check both if you are 4WD. Good luck!

Ya its 4x4, not a poping like a cv but a metal on metal kind of noise, boots are both still good, thats why im leaning toward hubs

It will be the front wheel bearings then. My truck had 45,000 miles on it when the one side took a ****. Sound like hell when they go bad! Not too bad of a job to replace. Good luck!
