im assuming that you've never replaced a front bearing on a 99-06 gm truck. because they all have sealed bearings, 2wd and 4wd. well at least all that i have read it is like that and my 01 silverado 2wd, stepmoms 01 tahoe 2wd, and dads 2500 silverado 4wd is like that, just unbolt it and replace assembly, only takes about 2hours or so in my experience

Oh, So they have Ball bearings instead of tapered rollers. I haven't changed them on my newer truck. but cars and my old S10 had tapered bearings. If they are self contained ball bearings then it will be pretty easy, you won't even need to grease them..

not sure kind of bearing it is but the hub and bearing is all sealed in a cast piece, i'll take pics when i replace mine this weekend to show you. i might could find the old one i replaced on my dads truck. it is impossible to grease, or service them in any way.

I'd like to see how it's done as well, if only to get a better picture in my head of the process. I'm sure it's pretty straightforward, but every little bit helps!

the house brand at O'Reilly is $150 as stated above and the National brand is $190...
Rock Auto lists the BCA/National brand for $141.99...you MAY be able to get O'Reilly to match Rock Auto if you print it out and take it in because O'Reilly now offers online buying as well, but with free ground shipping to your door on any purchase over $75. Even if they met you half way on price, it may be worth getting the part same day.

I just recently paid $150 ea. for mine from NAPA.

A brief overview on the install for a 99+ nbs 2wd:

Raise and support vehicle, remove wheel/tire, remove brake caliper and mounting bracket, remove brake rotor, remove the 3 bolts from the back of the bearing holding it to the spindle, disconnect the wheel speed sensor/abs sensor harness, tap the bearing unit out. Reverse for assembly.
