Dont waste your time, The G-80 is a piece of ****. Mine blew up and took out my ring and pinion gears. Do it once and do it right, get a dertoit true trac or equivilent posi, youll be happy. Good luck. BTW, you can reuse the bearings if you can get them off the old carrier, but bearings are cheap, replace them. Summit sells a install kit .

Throw it away!!!! Get an Eaton LSD or TrueTrac. Make the install worth your while man.

My friends blew up in his stock Z71 if that tells you much. The carrier was split all the way around!!!

The springs int he Eaton LSD are interchangable. The ones it come with work great for everyone I know of, including myself. The Eaton "Posi" works so well that you will forget about it - it's consistent, predictable, reliable. The cool thing about the LSD versus the locker is that the LSD gets tighter with input torque and PREVENTS wheel spin where as the locker RESPONDS to wheel spin AFTER it is already in progress.

eBay is where I got mine with Timken bearings. Youll have to check pinion depth, backlash and then shim accordingly. This is detremental to gear life and preventing whine.

Quick search yielded this:

While i agree that the G80 isn't a very good design i can't understand how everyone is breaking them.

My 2000 Z71 had 126K on it and the G80 was perfect and my 05 Silvy has 20K on it and the G80 is fine.

Wait, didn't all of the RST's come with the G80? I have an 06 RST and mine has one in it. I thought they all came with them?
