Lots of people are happy with the Detroit Truetrac as well, there are no clutches, it's all gears. That's what I have. Truck has been down most of the time I have had it in there, but it seems to work well from the little bit I have been able to play with it.

My G80 works like it should currently. The service manager did stress to have the G80 fluid changed at least every 30,000 miles. He said it helps prolong the life of the clutches that seem to fail in them (quite often) causing the one wheel peel.
Mine makes two black marks into the pavement equally thus so far.
I will be changing the fluid in about 5,000 more miles to see if this helps the G80 in the long run or not.

I have had an Eaton for 3 years and love it. In fact I just had my rear end rebuilt and put 4:10's in. The posi is still in good shape. Your other option could be a Detriot locker, but I have heard they are noisy.

and yes the G-80 has 2 clutch packs in it.. one on each side.
we cut a G-80 apart a few weeks ago.. there are a bunch of parts in there. wonder if you could put a zip tie on teh fly weight to keep it from unlocking over 20mph??
