Default G80 blew this morning and took the tranny w/ it.

Well, it was a matter of time and it finally happened, the G80 blew. I was driving through through the pasture, and when i started to go up the next hill, it . The worst part is, it took the tranny with it. Talked to the GM at the dealership and its gonna get covered under warranty, but it still sucks, no truck for a couple of weeks. I'm prolly gonna go ahead and order a Tru-Trac and some 4.10 gears. I am kinda lucky though...I knew there was a reason I held on to the stock servos and stock PCM for the truck. Oh well.

Off rant....

That does suck!
Glad the warranty is going to take care of it for you!

I talked to the tech, he's put 7 new G80's in half tons in 2 weeks.....I guess it was kind of a blessing in disguise cause the tranny was startin to slip in the 1-2 shift. I was planning on a FLT lv5 4L65E this summer, but I might wait a little bit now.

Usualy they break when they engauge, then disengauge, and then Re engauge. That's why doing a big burnout, or excessive tire spin can kill it. If the stupid things would just stay locked I don't think they would break near as easy. I have also broke axle shafts because of there **** too. Whole wheel came off, with the broken axel still attached!
