'Bulletproof' and '10-bolt' have no business in the same sentence. There is no such thing. As long as you have a 10-bolt/8.5" differential in your vehicle, you have a weak link in your drivetrain. Couple that with a 4L60E, and basically everything from your flywheel on back is running on borrowed time, especially when you start adding power and torque, and especially when you have a heavy vehicle.

That said, I would recommend the Eaton LSD and OEM/AAM gears, as some others have already said. That is what I installed a few weeks ago. The 400 lb springs in the Eaton will be fine for you - 800 lb'ers will not make your rear any stronger. Good luck.

thanks for the help

as i was reading around on other threads it seems like almost everyone is saying that a detroitlocker is stronger then an eaton, but here everyone is recommending an eaton. am i missing something? i will take everyone word on this and buy an eaton. my buddy PORN_1 also has an eaton in his truck and i like how it works, it just seemd like maybe i am missing something?

also my ring and pinion looks to be in great condition should i reuse them or get a new one?

I'm in the same boat as you, probably a little worse. My truck weighs 5800 lbs without me in it, and with the Radix I am already in trouble, without smaller pulleys or more power. So believe me, I feel your pain. I'll just drive the truck until something breaks then decide what to do from there.

The detroit locker is stronger by all accounts, however there are some associated characteristics that go along with that ultimate strength. The Eaton is well liked and I have heard of no failures, although I have not looked to find them either.

I chose the detroit locker for that ultimate in strength, but that's definetely not the path most taken.

Agreed the EATON will be more than enough for most.

i also would either go detroit or eaton. the detroit is certainly more suited to off roading.

isn't the detroit truetrac a limited slip? that was the one that i was looking to get, not a locker.

now how about more on what gears to get.

naked av told me to look into OEM/AAM gears does anyone else have any other sugestions?

now it is off to do some price checking
