Your in the same boat, How about blown rearend, 2 blown Trans, a blown engine. Now after the 6.0l swap its the rearend again. I ripped two teeth off of my pinion and all the teeth had stress crack on them. They are precision gear and they,re only a year old. Can anyone help me out.

The material the gears are made out of is the same, all 8620 steel. I prefer the OEM and then the Motive Performance in that order. Some of the steel is claimed to be "cleaner", but I have never seen proof of it.

Did I tell you I grew up in Milford? Right off Hickory Ridge Road, a stone's throw from the GM Proving Grounds....

If I blow up my rear I'm getting a 9.5" like the one in the VHO (and the new Trailblazer SS), I'm not even messing with a 8.5" again. Why would I bother? I'm not a masochist, so forget it.

As far as the tranny, when/if I blow up mine, it would be a dilemma between at 4L80 swap and an FLP L5. After seeing how Chuck treats his customers, I'd be very tempted to go the L5 4L65 route.

upgrading the rear in yours will probably be a good idea. that's alot of weight on a 10 bolt. going to take a bit of work to have the brackets put on would be my only guess.

Yep, went to Milford High, Class of '81....

I'm not a gear guy, so I can't tell you if your gears are good or not. I don't know if 'looking good' and 'being good' are the same thing. Hopefully someone else will pipe in with the correct answer.

I don't really have the money for the 9.5 rearend swap, Parish said he thing it would be around $1500 and I don't have the money because I just did a 6.0l cam swap and there people with 2wd trucks putting more power to the ground then me and there using the 8.5 rearend and thats holding up.
