Default gear ? help

im new to gears and posi units, i currently have 4.10 in my truck a 2wd truck, im planning on getting a posi unit so would i loose my gears? how does this all happen? again im a noobie when it comes to this

Worst case is you would have to set up the gear pattern again if the carrier is replaced, but you can definitely reuse the gears you have.

If they try to feed you some line about how you will need a new ring and pinion, its all BS. If anything while you are in there, check the spider gears since those usually chip and crack long before the ring and pinion.

also make sure they set it up right or it will whine.

and make sure they put 75w90 synthetic gear oil in it, thats what the tru-trac calls for (i am assuming thats what your going with).
tru trac DOES NOT want you to use synthetic gear oil in there units, unless they decided to very recently, i just went through this a few weeks ago on a warranty job. the first question the asked me was did i use synthetic: i told them NO, they told good cause if i did they were not gonna exchange it

you'll need a master install kit, depending on the miles on the gears and such i would replace all bearings and shims, to be on the safe side plus the crush sleave.

Ask ryne at CMS tomorrow and see how much they'll charge. BTW its gonna be hot as hell when you get tuned
