Default Gear Install HELP

Well I am in the middle of installing the 4.10's. I bought the master install kit from rons. Problem is, My pinion bearing closest to the gear is bigger than the one included in the kit.....is this normal? I'm kinda at a stand still till I figure out whats up, naturally, all the parts stores are closed but I had them double check the numbers the other day and the packaged kit shows to have the right bearings???

I know the large one goes on the gear end, my install kit for the "8.6" included both pinion bearings, the larger one is about 1/2 smaller than my factory bearing. I think I'll just press my factory one off tomorrow at work. What pisses me off is that I had 2 different parts stores look up the bearings for the pinion gear because i wanted to make some "setup bearings". Both parts stores came up with the same # that was included in my kit. Which are wrong

I had to go buy a setup bearing from the parts store myself, kind of slowed me down too. The kit bearing and race had a little different taper from the OEM stuff, I installed the kit race and got a matching bearing from the parts store and used that one for my setup bearing. Make sure you install the new kit race before you set it up.

I did read the writeup. After some digging last night I found that the 09 and newer have larger o.d. Pinon bearings. So the 8.6 install kit I got from rons only works up to 08 on the pinion bearings anyhow. I pressed mine off today at work and onto the new pinion. My stock pinion had a .036 shim, I used it and will check pattern tonight when I get
home.

I would have measured the original bearing and race vs the new bearing and race before I added the shim. No biggie, but might help in the future.

I used the original bearing and race. neither pinion bearing in my install kit from ron's fit, they were too small on the outside diameter
