just my 2 cents:
for a daily driven truck that you want some noticable gain in I would recommend 4.10's

for a full out race truck I would still probably run 4.10's, but a LOT depends on what you're wanting to do and what kind of power you're dealing with

my truck: I went from 3.73's to 4.10's over 6 months ago and I noticed a small loss in gas mileage which is mostly due to me having a 3k stall now. Overall, it was money well spent although I had to spend it since my G80 blew up. When I gotta buy a new diff why not buy gears too huh?

Some guys say that you won't notice a difference going from 3.73's to 4.10's, but I've driven vehicles that have done that exact swap and can tell the difference for sure. I currently have 3.73's and a 31" tall tire and would love to go to 4.10's if I had the funds. You can still cruise the highway and take your truck on long trips without the engine screaming and still retain some fuel economy with the converter locked in overdrive, yet have that extra gearing to get you moving off the line. It's a nice all around gear for a truck with "taller" (29+ inches) tires. Just my .02.

Yeah I turn about 2200'ish now with the 4.10's, and with a tail wind I get 20mpg
Otherwise, it's more in the 17-18 range

I would not worry about MPG loss until you get a different Torque Converter, then watch your MPG drop BIG TIME! my truck 10-12 city/ 20 highway.....
