gear ratio
I was just wondering what everyone is running for gears here. I was noticing at 80 I am turning 2000 rpm did the math have 3.42 gears with 32 inch tall tires. I was thinking switching to 3.73 or 4.10 might give me a little more power and not hurt my mileage. What are your thoughts?

Well I have a set of stock 3.73s that I won't be needing anymore (I'm going to 4.56 gears) so if you want to buy them from me I'll sell them to you for cheap. They have 90K miles on them but have never been abused and should be perfectly fine (I'll know Wed when I have the new gears in).
I personally also have 32" tall tires and wanted more gear. I get about 17.5-18.5 MPG average around Phoenix (45%/35% surface street/highway) with the 3.73s but feel I'm really lugging the engine with the big tires so I hope MPGs will stay the same if not go up.

Not a power adder, but helps inertia. Shorter gears such as 4.10s would definitely yield a difference in off-the-line performance from 3.42s. Mileage may suffer up to 2mpg, but more likely only by 1mpg. I get 17mpg in my truck w/4.10s (5.3L w/ bolt-ons) driving pretty spirited, and have also gotten the same while cruising with nearly 1000lbs of load on a 100-mile hwy trip.

i would also say go 4.10s the difference from 3.42s to 3.73 isn't worth the money and you won't feel "that much" of a difference. If you're doing it for mileage it depends on your driving habits. If you do mostly highway i'd go for the taller gear (3.73). Around town/city driving i'd do the shorter gear (4.10).
Is this going on the truck in your sig? You already have 4.10s ?

Yea a lot of it depeneds on your tire size. I have 3.42's right now which I'll be upgrading to 4.10s, but I run a 29" tire on my truck so it's not terrible. Now if you're running a 31.6(265/75/16) or something like that then I would definitely go 4.10's. It all depends what your tire size is.

gears
The truck in my sig is just a play toy. I drive a 2005 gmc crewcab 4x4 with a magncharger. I just got back from a 100 mle trip to drop some stuff off. my truck got better mileage at 87 than at 77 on the way there. I think gears would defiantley help.
