I Know This Is Old.....
Been cruising around reading all the info for a bit now, and hoping to pick a few brains..
I recently purchased a 2007 NBS 4.8. I had never had it on the freeway, and just took it on a road trip, and I'm less then impressed with 326 gears. I did all my mods just after I bought the truck, so have nothing to compare it to.... I have one of Black Bears tunes, dual cat back, and CIA. Cruising down the hwy at 75, with a decent hill, it would shift from OD/4th to 4th, 4th to 3rd, and 3rd to 2nd, pulling 5200 rpm, at 75!!!!!!!!! I do have 265/70/18's, but, COME ON!!!!.
I contacted Justin to see if it was something we could tune out, and he informed me of the gearing issue.. SO, I'm going to regear it, he recommended 4.10's, I see some are saying 4.56's... I do want to clear up that bottom end issues, but still want to be able to drive freeway at 75, 80, and not drain the pocket book..
4.10's? will 4.11 be close? 4.56's work for freeway??
BTW, after the CIA, exhaust, and most of all a tune from Black Bear, has really I am realy impressed with with the 4.8. Lots say they are "slugs" but, I dont feel that. After Justin tuned my gear, rolling at 30 mph, I can punch it, and my cooper st's will slip, traction control goes off, and your head is in the head rest!
I'm really excited to regear it! What would anyone recommend?
Thanks fellas!!
